Out & About
Taste, tour and trek the local surroundings
With the best of the Mornington Peninsula at your doorstep, there are literally hundreds of things to do. While you’re spoilt for choice, here’s some of the most popular nearby attractions.
Beaches
For the family, Sorrento is postcard perfect and Blairgowrie, Rosebud and Rye have white sands and shallower waters. For surfers and fishing, Portsea Surf Beach, St Andrews and Gunnamatta are some of the Peninsula’s finest breaks.
Food and Wine
The Peninsula is famous for its wines, in particular Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With so many to choose from, we suggest a light red and wood fire pizza at T’Gallant or the sprawling grounds and cellar door of Red Hill Estate. Or for something a little more rustic, the Pig and Whistle tavern sits high on Arthurs seat and has pub fare with a range of wines and vintage beers.
Gardens
For green thumbs and kids alike, you can get lost in the wonders of the Enchanted Maze Garden, Boneo Maze & Wetlands Centre or the Ashcombe Maze & Lavender Gardens.
Golf
With sweeping hills and sea breezes, the Peninsula’s globally recognized golf courses are some of the finest and hardest too! Moonah Links (which has hosted the Australian Open) and The National are just minutes away by car.
Walks
For breathtaking scenery and views, try the tranquil Greens Bush, Bush Rangers Bay and The Cape walks. Or for something a little different, Millionaire’s Walk at Sorrento let’s you wander on the edge, and through the backyards, of some of the most expensive real estate in Portsea.
For the more adventurous walkers tackle the epic Two Bays Walking Track at Arthurs Seat and take in the incredible views on the Arthurs Seat Circuit Walk.
Wildlife & Adventures
For Horse riders, you can enjoy stunning views on the beach rides and tranquil forest trails at Gunnamatta Trail Rides, Arthurs Seat Trail Rides and Ace-Hi (Cape Schank). And remember, you’re more than welcome to bring your own horse to roam our paddocks for a holiday too. Or if you’ve been competing or attending clinics at the nearby Boneo Park Equestrian Centre, we’ll provide the perfect retreat afterwards for a well-earned rest.
Water lovers can swim with the Dolphins at Polperro Dolphin Swims or Moonraker Cruises. Or if you want to try your feet at surfing, the East Coast Surf School will get you started.
